Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The Merchant Fraud team in Chicago is rapidly expanding and seeking an ambitious Merchant Fraud Analyst to identify, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activities across acquiring and embedded financial services.
In this role, you will work closely with Risk, Product, and Merchant Operations teams to maintain platform integrity and create a secure environment for users. You'll be hands-on in improving fraud operations processes and contributing to scalable fraud detection and mitigation strategies.
Key responsibilities include: monitoring and investigating transaction patterns, account activities, and user behavior to detect and mitigate fraud in real-time; assisting in development and optimization of fraud detection systems and tools; developing and optimizing policies and procedures for fraud incident response, root cause analysis, funds recovery, and communication protocols; and staying current with emerging fraud trends, techniques, and technologies.
You bring 1-3 years of fraud experience at a financial institution, ideally at an issuing bank, payment service provider, or fintech platform. You have strong knowledge of the payments ecosystem, issuing and acquiring mechanics, and fraud types impacting merchants and issuers (chargebacks, scams, account takeover). You are highly analytical and data-driven, proficient at using data to identify trends, drive investigations, and suggest improvements. You have hands-on experience with fraud prevention, detection, investigations, and remediation in banking. You make difficult decisions quickly, learn and iterate from experience, and use data to drive decisions. You work effectively both independently and collaboratively, taking ownership while connecting with global colleagues across teams and cultures.
