Fluidstack is building gigawatt-scale AI data centers with a modular approach designed to compress industry-standard construction schedules. The company acquires power, designs and builds data centers, and operates them with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are key differentiators.
The Supply Chain team ensures this speed is achievable by securing long-lead equipment before the schedule requires it. The company is working on three core problems: supplying gigawatt-scale compute by qualifying and dual-sourcing every critical equipment category; making supply chain the competitive advantage that enables faster builds than competitors; and building AI-powered supply chain prediction modeling to forecast lead times, demand, and disruption with unprecedented precision.
In this Director role, you will lead MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and structural sourcing end-to-end, owning categories including switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, busway, chillers, CDUs, pumps, piping packages, and structural steel. You will build and manage a team of sourcing managers for each category, setting category strategies and holding them accountable for execution.
Key responsibilities include: locking in supplier capacity years ahead through negotiated capacity reservations and multi-year supply agreements with OEMs; dual-sourcing critical-path equipment whose products are not interchangeable, managing design implications with engineering; tracking factory slots and production milestones to keep procurement off the critical path; and partnering with engineering and manufacturing to freeze equipment specs early enough to buy at market lead times while feeding supplier reality back into design decisions.
Fluidstack operates with full autonomy, insane urgency, first-principles reasoning, and a focus on building infrastructure that matters. The company is singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Led sourcing for major electrical and mechanical equipment (switchgear, transformers, UPS, generation, chillers, CDUs) on large construction or data center programs
- Managed a team of category managers or buyers and demonstrated results they delivered under your leadership
- Reserved factory capacity ahead of firm designs and managed the commercial risk that creates
- Negotiated multi-year committed-volume agreements with OEMs and held them to price, lead time, and capacity commitments
- Current, practical knowledge of electrical and mechanical market lead-time reality by product class
- Experience expediting equipment through factories by knowing key contacts and what to trade
- Ability to read specifications and drawings well enough to challenge specs or prices with substance
- Bonus qualifications: structural steel and modular skid packages, MV/HV equipment, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, OFCI programs, factory witness testing
