Latch builds AI agents and benchmarks for biological research, enabling frontier AI systems to drive breakthroughs in medicine. Over 10,000 scientists use Latch's agents for R&D, and all major frontier AI labs use Latch benchmarks to measure AI capabilities in biology and medicine. You will become Latch's authority on cell and gene therapy, owning the design and execution of cell and gene therapy benchmarks across discovery, development, and translation phases. This is a new function at the company, giving you significant autonomy to define the role's scope and direction. Key responsibilities include: - Authoring and shipping cell and gene therapy benchmarks (Cell-Therapy-TxBench, Gene-Therapy-TxBench, and flagship long-form variants) across the full R&D pipeline - Serving as the scientific authority for all cell and gene therapy work at Latch, providing final review on claims and methodologies - Potentially collaborating on and running drug programs in partnership with wet labs, guiding discovery and development workflows - Working with CROs to run experiments and gather data that inform benchmark and agent design - Building the function beyond yourself through hiring, partnerships, and advisory relationships You bring years of hands-on experience in cell or gene therapy, having carried programs through real clinical and commercial decisions. You have strong, defensible opinions about what constitutes correct work in your field and are motivated to build a new function rather than fill an existing seat. The interview will include a detailed discussion of a cell or gene therapy program you know intimately—the construct design, decision-making data, and critical challenges. This is a full-time, in-person role at Latch's waterfront office in San Francisco's China Basin neighborhood. The team works on-site five days per week. Compensation ranges from $250,000 to $400,000 depending on experience, with equity, 401(k) contributions, comprehensive health coverage (Blue Shield Platinum with 100% premium coverage and no deductibles), daily meals, and travel support for scientific conferences.
