Lucis is building an operating system for human longevity, delivering preventive healthcare at scale across Europe. The company analyzes 110+ biomarkers, creates personalized clinical protocols, and delivers them through an AI-powered product. Currently live in France, expanding to the UK, Portugal, and Spain.
As Medical Director, you will own Lucis's clinical direction and medical safety system end-to-end. This is a leadership role that bridges clinical expertise with organizational governance and regulatory strategy.
Key responsibilities:
- Define what biomarkers the company tests and establish the clinical standards for service delivery
- Set the company's risk posture and governance model: determine who signs off on decisions, how safety incidents are handled, and what clinical claims Lucis can make
- Own the medical device classification and certification strategy (CE marking, ISO standards, or remaining out of scope) and build the regulatory argument
- Hire and lead the clinical operations and safety team
- Serve as Lucis's clinical representative with laboratories, insurers, institutional partners, and regulators, working alongside the CMO
- Establish standards that the product team must follow to ensure each release is clinically safe
You will work in a fast-moving healthtech environment where clinical judgment directly shapes product and company direction. The role requires moving quickly from concept to execution, taking full ownership, and collaborating with talented people committed to the mission of preventive health.
REQUIREMENTS:
- MD (medical degree) with approximately 5–10 years of hospital practice
- Demonstrated leadership of people and systems in healthtech, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, medical affairs, or CRO settings
- Experience holding a quality or regulatory role; ability to independently carry certification decisions rather than outsource to consultants
- Ability to set clinical standards and orchestrate other physicians to execute your vision
- Fluency in French and English (spoken and written); additional languages a plus
- Practical experience using AI in clinical work; ability to articulate when AI fails and how to mitigate those failures
Not a fit if you: prioritize traditional bedside practice, prefer pure research without shipping clinical standards, lack real clinical practice, need all processes pre-defined, or require predictable nine-to-five work over mission intensity.
