Infinitum is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to join the fan engineering team in Austin, Texas. You will be a key contributor in developing proprietary commercial and industrial fan systems. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct product design and development using CAD programs and general design guidelines - Perform calculations and analysis using closed-form methods, computer applications, FEA, and other simulation tools; develop calculation tools for specific problems - Support other departments and customers by addressing technical questions within design guidelines - Review drawings, schematics, bills of material, and documentation necessary for manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning - Create and enhance design guidelines by leveraging past experience and technical learning - Develop new products by providing input on specifications, designing and building prototypes, devising validation tests, and preparing supporting documentation - Provide input to project feasibility and cost analysis - Participate in and lead product improvement, productivity improvement, standardization, cost reduction, and cycle time reduction initiatives - Provide technical disposition to non-conformances and participate in corrective actions Requirements: Must-Have: - Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering or Physical Science from a four-year college or university with 2+ years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (Master's degree desired) - Basic design knowledge of machined components, sheet metal parts, castings, and injection molded components - Proficiency in SolidWorks (CSWP preferred), including sheet metal design and manufacturing drawing generation - Understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T and application to manufacturing drawings - In-depth understanding of design for manufacturability and manufacturing processes, particularly sheet metal fabrication - Ability to multi-task, prioritize independently, and wear multiple hats within the organization Good-to-Have: - Experience with FEA software for stress and/or thermal analysis - Experience with CFD software for fluid/thermal analysis - Experience with PDM or document management software - Experience with rotating equipment, motors/VFDs, and commercial/industrial fans - Familiarity with AMCA/ANSI/ISO/UL/ETL/NEC standards for commercial and industrial fans - Basic programming skills (VBA, Python, .NET, etc.) to solve complex engineering problems - Project management experience in new product development/introduction (NPD/NPI)
