Kela Technologies develops next-generation battlefield intelligence and mission systems, combining hardware and software to help defense organizations make faster, smarter decisions in complex operational environments.
You will join the Advanced Munitions Group as a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer, owning mechanical design from concept through production. This is a full-lifecycle role where you will drive innovation in mechanical systems that directly support Western defense capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms from concept and detailed design through prototyping, validation, and production.
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot prototypes in the lab, driving iterative design improvements.
- Collaborate with hardware, electronics, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams to balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
- Create complex CAD models and detailed production drawings using SolidWorks.
- Travel to manufacturing sites and suppliers as needed to support production and validation activities.
Requirements:
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design of multidisciplinary products
- 2+ years of professional experience designing for plastic injection molding, including Moldflow analysis
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks
- Experience designing mechanisms with strong engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of plastic injection molding, CNC machining, and sheet metal design, including design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
- Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping and prototype development, with willingness to work in the lab and on the production floor
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
