Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems, AI, and sensor fusion technology. The company is fielding next-generation Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) for seabed exploration, executing multi-million-dollar contracts for the US Navy and DARPA while providing commercial Robot-as-a-Service surveys.
The Manufacturing Test Engineer will develop and implement high-fidelity acceptance test procedures for Anduril's AUV portfolio. Working closely with engineering staff and electro-mechanical technicians, this role is critical to advancing testing capabilities and ensuring quality as production scales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Optimize test design and execution of offshore acceptance testing for AUVs, including test plan generation, fixture development, and data analysis tools
- Collaborate with Systems/Test and Evaluation teams throughout product development to perform risk assessments, operationalize production testing, and reduce offshore acceptance test cycles
- Develop automated post-mission analysis tools to evaluate vehicle performance
- Build broad test capabilities across the manufacturing value stream—from system-level checkouts to component-level in-process validation
- Develop and manage test ecosystem to de-risk hardware and ensure products meet reliability targets and design intent
- Perform hands-on and data-driven root cause analysis of electromechanical subsystems using structured problem-solving methodologies
- Design and implement semi-automated testing equipment and protocols for subsystem characterization and environmental testing
- Produce and maintain testing logs/data; develop error code libraries with troubleshooting logic for fast resolution
The role operates in a highly dynamic, collaborative startup environment where idea-sharing and innovation are central to the culture. The team brings over 100 years of combined AUV experience from organizations including Liquid Robotics, Teledyne, Bluefin Robotics, Oceaneering, and the US Navy.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, EE/Computer Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 5+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably test design of electro-mechanical hardware in a manufacturing environment
- Experience analyzing or reviewing sonar and/or acoustic data from subsea sensors
- Deep familiarity with Autonomous Underwater Vehicles and/or offshore robotics testing; passion for understanding reliable subsea systems
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, SHELL, or similar
- Experience developing full system test plans and executing them on fast-paced product development timelines
- Experience programming and testing a wide range of sensors, actuators, and electrical components
- Bias for action—proactive problem-solving mindset
- Ability to prototype and run independent tests from experimental setup through hardware and software implementation
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with Product Life Cycle (PLM) systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Test Execution Systems (TES)
- Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and adapt to novel situations; multidisciplinary problem-solving approach
- Comfort with high project ownership under technical and schedule pressure, especially with limited scope definition
- Experience testing and operating with or around hazardous systems (high voltage up to 400V)
- Experience integrating electrical, mechanical, and software/firmware systems
