Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems, AI, and sensor fusion technology. The company is fielding next-generation Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) for seabed exploration, executing multi-million-dollar contracts for the US Navy and DARPA while also providing commercial Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) surveys.
The Manufacturing Test Engineer will develop and implement high-fidelity, automated test procedures at both component and system levels for subsea robotics. Working closely with engineering staff and electro-mechanical technicians, you will be responsible for advancing testing capabilities to ensure quality and scalability in production operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building broad test capabilities across the manufacturing value stream, from system-level checkouts and acceptance testing to component-level in-process validation
- Developing, executing, and managing the test ecosystem to de-risk hardware and ensure products meet target reliability levels and design intent
- Performing hands-on and data-driven root cause analysis of electromechanical subsystems using structured problem-solving methodologies
- Designing and implementing semi-automated testing equipment and protocols for subsystem characterization and reliability/environmental testing
- Collaborating with design and systems teams throughout product development cycles to perform risk assessments, maintain ownership of test deployment in production, oversee technician training, and manage bug fixes and improvements
- Producing and maintaining testing logs and data, developing libraries of error codes with troubleshooting logic and diagrams
- Generating controlled test instructions for technician teams in MES or other test execution systems
- Optimizing test design and execution of full-system factory acceptance testing (FAT) of AUVs
- Designing and executing PCBA and electrical system component testing with hands-on testing and rework as necessary
The role is ideal for someone passionate about subsea robotics and exploring the ocean, working in a dynamic, collaborative environment with over 100 years of combined AUV expertise across the team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, EE/Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably test design of electro-mechanical hardware in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in hardware testing and automated test systems (LabVIEW, Test Stand, etc.)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, SHELL, or others
- Experience with computer hardware communication protocols: USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, PCIe, HDMI, CAN, etc.
- Well versed with complex electromechanical systems and passionate about understanding reliability
- Experience developing full system test plans and executing them on fast-paced product development timelines
- Experience with programming and testing a wide range of sensors, actuators, and electrical components
- Ability to prototype and run your own tests, from experimental setup to hardware and software implementation
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in sub-sea robotics or AUV/UUV industries
- Familiarity with Product Life Cycle (PLM) systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Test Execution Systems (TES)
- Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and adapt to new situations; multidisciplinary approach to problem solving
- Comfortable with high project ownership under technical and schedule pressure
- Experience testing and operating with or around hazardous systems (high voltage up to 400V)
- Experience working on projects involving integration of electrical, mechanical, and software/firmware systems
