Diligent Robotics is hiring a Manufacturing Reliability Engineer to own production test and provisioning for autonomous robots at their contract manufacturer. This is a hybrid role based in Austin, TX with 50% travel to Milwaukee, WI.
You will design and validate end-to-end production test protocols, manage robot provisioning flows (imaging, firmware deployment, configuration), and own critical KPIs including First Pass Yield (FPY), cycle time, and test coverage. You'll architect and maintain automated test frameworks and harnesses used at the contract manufacturer site, ensuring tests are stable, fast, and provide actionable failure data.
Key responsibilities include leading root-cause analysis for field and production failures, coordinating corrective actions across design, firmware, and manufacturing engineering teams, and serving as the onsite technical authority at the contract manufacturer. You'll train operators, debug failures on the production line, and continuously refine processes with manufacturing partners.
Success is measured by improved FPY and reduced rework rates, reduced per-unit cycle time while increasing test coverage, and a stable, fully automated provisioning flow with minimal manual intervention.
You bring 5+ years of production/test engineering experience with complex electro-mechanical products (robotics, medical devices, consumer electronics). You have proven ownership of end-to-end production test processes and on-site contract manufacturer experience. You're skilled in test protocol development, fixture design, automated test implementation, and validation. Strong hands-on experience with firmware provisioning and validation for sensors and compute platforms is essential.
You have broad technical knowledge across systems integration, sensors (cameras, LiDAR, IMU), embedded compute platforms, and networking/provisioning. Excellent debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and system software enable you to triage complex cross-domain failures. You're data-driven, experienced with KPIs, statistical process control, and metrics reporting. You communicate exceptionally well and thrive working with contract manufacturers, operators, and cross-functional engineering teams.
