Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, serving large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. As Manufacturing Engineering Manager for PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly), you will lead the production strategy to establish and scale internal PCBA production capabilities to meet aggressive rate targets while maintaining mission-critical quality standards. You will lead a team of engineers, specialists, and technicians through the full product lifecycle, from component and PCBA processes for development and flight hardware through all phases. Key responsibilities include: • Lead and mentor a team performing PCBA assembly and test operations to specification and work order requirements • Interface with engineering, production, and supply chain to resolve nonconformances and drive corrective actions • Champion Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives with design engineering to optimize hardware designs for manufacturability • Develop and implement production strategy to establish internal PCBA capabilities aligned with factory rate targets • Own the physical production layout, optimizing material flow from receiving through all processes to finished product • Develop new processes, ground support equipment, and tooling to support new hardware designs and continuous improvement • Create and maintain detailed schedules communicating milestones and deadlines to team and stakeholders • Establish metrics and tools to monitor production success including yield and on-time delivery • Foster a culture of safety and quality throughout the workplace Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline; 5+ years PCBA experience in aerospace, military, or manufacturing environments; 3+ years in leadership or team lead capacity transitioning products from development to production; willingness to work overtime and weekends as required. Bonus qualifications include experience in fast-paced aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics manufacturing; high-reliability electronics design and manufacturing; supplier and contract manufacturer development; product scaling to high volume; production automation implementation; design of experiments and process qualification; ERP/MRP/MES systems; and ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systems. Astranis is headquartered in a 153,000 sq. ft. facility in Northern California and employs 450 engineers and entrepreneurs.
