Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its Manufacturing team in Costa Mesa. The team is responsible for rapidly iterating and building cutting-edge defense hardware, including static equipment, moving ground equipment, and flight vehicles.
In this role, you will own a portion or all of the manufacturing value chain for specific products or product lines. Your responsibilities will include:
• Developing novel tooling solutions for fabrication and assembly of structural parts
• Creating process flows that break down large, complex assemblies into logical part flows and sub-processes
• Writing comprehensive documentation for manufacturing at scale, including work instructions, quality plans, and inspection requirements
• Collaborating with contract manufacturers across various disciplines (PCBA fabrication, metallic manufacturing, assembly, etc.) to develop repeatable, sustained processes for both quick-turn development and at-scale production
• Working hands-on with technicians and other engineers to build prototype hardware
• Contributing to end-customer hardware mechanical or electrical design, including interconnects, board fabrication, and inspection
• Traveling to suppliers for initial sourcing work, solving ongoing production issues, and implementing quality procedures
The ideal candidate demonstrates holistic ownership of technical challenges with creative, physical solutions in fast-paced, resource-limited environments. You should thrive in dynamic settings where you can directly impact hardware development from conception through manufacturing.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Degree in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, or a hard science
• 2+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably manufacturing or design of electromechanical hardware
• Demonstrated ability to creatively deliver electromechanical hardware in resource-constrained environments
• Demonstrated in-kind or direct team leadership skills with supporting examples
• Personal experience physically manufacturing hardware via any means (machining, fabrication, soldering, assembly, etc.); work on personal or extracurricular projects is a plus
• Genuine interest in manufacturing and thirst for learning
• U.S. Person status required due to access to export-controlled data
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• PCBA fabrication experience, including prior work with or setup/modification/monitoring of SMT processes
• Hands-on experience with R/C and/or autonomous flight vehicles, flight controllers, or related control systems
• Software scripting experience in any language
