Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join the Propulsion Manufacturing Team in Costa Mesa, California. The team is responsible for rapidly iterating and building cutting-edge defense hardware for the Core Technologies Platform, with ownership spanning the entire manufacturing value chain. In this role, you will own the disposition and rework of turbine engines that fail internal acceptance testing or are returned by customers, addressing both hardware failures and configuration upgrades. You will diagnose engine-level issues by analyzing test data, inspecting hardware, and driving failures to root cause. Key responsibilities include authoring clear rework instructions, managing configuration across engineering and manufacturing BOMs to maintain traceability, leading teardown and inspection of returned engines, and determining whether components are serviceable, repairable, or scrap. You will define and manage upgrade paths to bring legacy-configuration engines to current standards, feed failure findings back to design and reliability engineering to prevent recurring issues, estimate rework scope and cost, and coordinate with planning and supply chain. You will verify that every reworked engine meets requirements and passes acceptance testing before shipment, and maintain accurate as-built records documenting final configuration after rework. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, resource-limited environments and can demonstrate holistic ownership of solving technical challenges with creative, physical solutions—either personally manufacturing or overseeing manufacturing. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred) - 5+ years of progressive experience in turbomachinery component manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or high-performance industrial gas turbine industries - Experience with CAD/CAM software, preferably NX or similar - Familiarity with CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and other advanced manufacturing technologies - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment - Strong communication and teamwork skills - Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience integrating automation, robotics, or advanced metrology systems (e.g., CMM, optical scanning) into manufacturing workflows - Owned end-to-end equipment development and implementation
