Spark Advisors is building a modern Medicare distribution platform that combines AI, CRM, and client services to help independent Medicare brokers serve seniors more effectively. The company is backed by Primary Ventures and Viewpoint Ventures, with a team drawn from Square, Ramp, Yext, Oscar, and Cedar.
You will be the first dedicated owner of Technical Operations, reporting directly to the CTO. This is a foundational leadership role where you'll build out policy, tooling, and team structure while working closely with engineering leadership on a live, regulated production environment serving thousands of agents.
Key responsibilities span four domains:
**AI-Enabled Operations**: Apply AI and agentic tooling to DevOps, infrastructure, and InfoSec work—automated remediation, anomaly detection, capacity optimization, log triage, compliance evidence collection, and threat detection. You'll set guardrails for safe AI adoption in a regulated healthcare environment, balancing speed with compliance and auditability.
**DevOps & Infrastructure**: Own the reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency of the AWS-native platform (Lambda, Step Functions, Kinesis, Connect, Bedrock). Drive CI/CD maturity, infrastructure-as-code practices, observability (logging, monitoring, alerting), and incident response. Manage on-call rotations and runbooks.
**Information Security & Compliance**: Own the security posture of a HIPAA- and CMS-regulated platform. Lead SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance programs, vendor security reviews, and incident response. Partner with engineering on secure-by-default practices (secrets management, least-privilege IAM, PHI handling, encryption). Own security awareness training and access governance.
**IT Operations**: Manage corporate IT including employee onboarding/offboarding, endpoint management, SSO/identity (Okta), device security, and helpdesk support. Own vendor and SaaS management, procurement, and licensing. Build scalable, self-serve IT processes.
You'll build and lead a small, high-leverage team, with significant influence over function structure and staffing. The role expects hands-on leadership combined with strategic thinking about where AI genuinely replaces manual work versus where it introduces risk.
