Salary: USD 204,000 - 290,000 / annual

Affirm is building a best-in-class ads platform for its marketplace, pairing consumer insights, segmentation, and personalization with a vast merchant network. The Marketplace Performance team owns the foundation of key monetization artifacts that drive GMV for the company. As Manager of Software Engineering for Marketplace Performance, you will lead a team responsible for building and maintaining the technical infrastructure that powers Affirm's marketplace monetization. You will set technical strategy on a year-long time scale and help your team execute on critical, business-impacting projects. Key responsibilities include: - Defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational processes that serve as a force-multiplier for your team - Collaborating across product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are well understood and managed - Owning your team's operations and availability by establishing monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting for on-call support - Fostering a culture of quality and ownership through code review and design standards, both within your team and across the broader engineering organization - Developing talent on your team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example You will work cross-functionally with Revenue, TAM, CSM, and Merchant partners to achieve marketplace goals and make Affirm the destination consumers trust for discovery, comprehension, and shopping. Requirements: - 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin - Extensive track record developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes - Experience developing consumer experiences using UI frameworks like React - 2+ years of experience in Ad Tech or related platforms - Demonstrated ability to deliver major features, system components, or deprecate existing functionality through technical and execution planning - High-quality code that is easily understood and used by others - Comfort thriving in ambiguity and moving from low-level language idioms to large-system architecture - Growth and impact trajectory demonstrating mastery of gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers - Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting effective collaboration with global engineering teams - Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
