As Manager of Propulsion Test Engineering at Impulse, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers (entry-level through principal) responsible for testing all aspects of development and production-level propulsion hardware. Your team ensures propulsion systems meet design intent and performance requirements through rigorous testing, analysis, and validation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a diverse engineering team across experience levels
- Planning and coordinating test operations across multiple test sites, including operator training and safe execution
- Managing test schedules, resources, and priorities to meet program milestones
- Developing and tracking operational metrics to improve test throughput, reliability, and team performance
- Ensuring all test operations comply with safety procedures, hazard controls, and operational standards
- Driving root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and test quality
- Resolving technical issues with innovative solutions
- Coordinating with test equipment, infrastructure, and data systems teams to support current and future testing needs
- Establishing and maintaining high technical, operational, and professional standards
- Championing a culture of safety, technical rigor, operational excellence, and ownership
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in development or production test engineering
- Proven success building and developing high-performing engineering teams
- Understanding of fluid systems, instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems
- Ability to manage complex test operations safely and effectively
