Form Energy is a climate technology company developing long-duration iron-air battery systems for grid-scale energy storage. The company has secured contracts with leading US utilities and is ramping production at its first high-volume manufacturing facility in Weirton, WV.
You will manage the Operations Engineering team responsible for electrode assembly production, overseeing lamination, welding, gluing, and inspection processes. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical depth with people management.
Key responsibilities:
- Own operational results across all electrode assembly processes, holding the team accountable for line cadence, downtime, and throughput
- Hire, develop, and manage process engineers and technicians; make staffing and performance decisions
- Establish and track section-level metrics (OEE, yield, cycle time) and direct resources to highest-impact bottlenecks
- Set methods and standards for evaluating floor-level solutions before scale-up, ensuring safety and robustness
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve constraints affecting quality and throughput company-wide
- Build and prioritize a continuous improvement roadmap balancing waste reduction, ergonomics, and process reliability against production demands
- Serve as primary escalation point between shop floor and systems engineering, ensuring process and human-factors feedback shapes next-generation equipment design
The role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV (near Pittsburgh, PA). Relocation assistance is available.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations, including demonstrated team or section management experience
- Proven ability to hire, develop, and manage performance of process engineers or technicians
- Deep familiarity with manufacturing metrics (OEE, downtime tracking) and root-cause problem-solving across diverse unit processes
- Working knowledge of assembly-line processes such as lamination, welding, gluing, or inspection
- Track record of establishing operational objectives and work plans, adjusting based on cost, schedule, and staffing tradeoffs
- Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills; experience representing function priorities to peer managers and design engineering leaders
- Pragmatic problem-solving, intellectual curiosity, and comfort with ambiguity as the organization scales
