Salary: USD 150,000 - 195,000 / annual
Voyager Technologies is seeking a Manager, Physical Security Systems to serve as the primary physical security subject matter expert (SME) for the enterprise, leading programs across access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems. This is a hybrid leadership and hands-on role based in Long Beach, CA, requiring full-time on-site presence with regular travel (up to 35%) to domestic facility locations including manufacturing sites, laboratories, and secured environments.
Key responsibilities include managing daily operations, maintenance, and administration of enterprise Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Video Management Systems (VMS) across multiple Voyager locations. You will ensure reliability, availability, and lifecycle management of physical security technology through preventative maintenance, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination. Badge administration, physical access authorization, and credential lifecycle management fall under your purview.
You will plan and execute physical security technology projects—system upgrades, facility expansions, renovations, and new construction—on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards. This includes coordinating contractors, integrators, vendors, and internal stakeholders; reviewing construction drawings and facility design documents to ensure physical security requirements are met. You will support development and execution of capital investment plans and operating budgets for security technology.
Cross-functional partnership is essential. You will collaborate closely with Facilities, Information Technology, and other departments to ensure security requirements are incorporated into capital projects, renovations, infrastructure improvements, and new construction planning. Vendor management activities including service agreements, preventative maintenance programs, procurement, and performance oversight are core responsibilities.
You will maintain comprehensive documentation (system configurations, asset inventories, maintenance records, drawings, SOPs) and ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards. Monitoring operational performance, identifying improvements, and communicating findings through executive-level reports, metrics, and presentations are expected.
The role requires future team leadership and oversight responsibilities, including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management of security operations and technical staff.
Work environment includes full-time on-site presence at headquarters with regular travel up to 35% to domestic facility locations. The role may involve physical activities such as working from elevated platforms, lifts, and ladders; lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs.; and performing systems work in constrained spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required at certain facility locations.
**REQUIREMENTS**
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum seven plus years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise physical security operations with related education to support physical security compliance
- Demonstrated experience administering enterprise access control, intrusion detection, and video management systems
- Experience with enterprise security platforms such as LenelS2, Genetec, Brivo, or comparable enterprise systems
- Experience leading security technology implementation projects and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and security system integrators
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive presentations and operational reports
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Active Secret clearance required at time of hire; Top Secret or TS/SCI preferred
- Ability to travel to US locations up to 50% or more as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field
- Professional certifications: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent
- Prior experience with Security Operations Center (SOC) team leadership—including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management of SOC analysts/operators
- Experience supporting defense, aerospace, manufacturing, or other highly regulated operational environments
- Familiarity with NISPOM, UL 2050, ICD 705, CMMMC and other applicable physical security standards and regulations
- Experience supporting multi-site operations with geographically dispersed teams
- Experience developing capital investment recommendations and supporting long-term technology modernization initiatives
- Knowledge of electronic security system design principles, integrated security technologies, and physical security best practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives
