The Operations Strategy team drives process optimization, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional program delivery across Airwallex's global operations. This role focuses on leading the Data and AI Governance Program, a critical cross-functional initiative that sits at the intersection of program management and operations strategy.
You will own end-to-end program management for data and AI governance initiatives, running sprints, tracking progress, and reporting weekly to the steering committee. Key responsibilities include mapping dependencies across IT, Security, Engineering, Legal, and Data teams; aligning stakeholders on governance strategy and priorities; setting the strategy for which frameworks get implemented; defining and tracking success metrics; and translating governance requirements into operational processes that reduce data access risk without blocking business operations.
You'll conduct technical deep dives on access control implementation across systems like Okta and Databricks, drive requirements and design documents through development and approval, create a living AI model and use case inventory to track legal and governance risks, and partner with Legal to translate regulatory requirements into actionable policy and process.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in fast-growing tech startups, top-tier strategy/management consulting, or equivalent. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, exceptional stakeholder management abilities (especially with Engineering and Legal), and demonstrated experience with data governance initiatives including data tagging, classification, and ownership. You've coordinated cross-functional delivery of access management initiatives, reviewed access to sensitive data, and driven remediations. You can run programs end-to-end with sprint facilitation, dependency mapping, progress reporting, and cross-functional alignment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to synthesize complex information for both technical and executive audiences. A bachelor's degree is required.
Preferred qualifications include experience interpreting and operationalizing regulatory requirements in financial services or payments environments, and familiarity with AI governance best practices.
