Salary: USD 88,000 - 110,000 / annual
Flexport is a global logistics and supply chain technology platform that moves over $19B in merchandise annually across 112 countries. This role leads ocean freight procurement strategy and operations for assigned trade lanes.
You will drive all ocean carrier procurement activities, including negotiating annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly allocations. You'll develop and execute long-term partnerships with ocean carriers, help shape global carrier strategy, and drive procurement cost optimization. Key responsibilities include supply forecasting to meet demand, building scalable procurement processes and tools, and partnering with technology teams to develop next-generation procurement systems. You'll lead process standardization and improvement initiatives globally, educate the broader organization on carrier and trade lane intelligence, and manage a team of procurement associates.
You will work cross-functionally with Procurement, Pricing, Planning, and District Management teams to deliver globally optimized results. Additional responsibilities include leading regular cross-team meetings, initiating system and process improvements, and developing the next generation of ocean procurement experts at Flexport.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of ocean freight experience at a top freight forwarder or carrier, OR 7+ years of supply chain experience with a BA/BS degree
- Strategic vision combined with ground-floor execution capability
- Bias toward action, process, structure, and data-driven decision making
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
