ICON builds robotic systems that construct buildings. The company commercially launched Titan, its multi-story robotic construction platform, in March 2026 and has raised over $550 million to date, with more than $360 million in government contracts across the Army, Air Force, DARPA, and NASA.
The Material Production Manager owns day-to-day production of Formcrete (ICON's proprietary material) and associated wall-system inputs at ICON's Austin facility. This role manages the fixed batch plant as it becomes ICON's first Titan Refill station and helps establish the new Mobile Batch Plant that will bring batching directly to project sites. The manager leads a hands-on production team and reports to the Leader of Material Operations.
Key responsibilities include managing Formcrete production across batch plants from raw-material receiving through batching, sampling, bagging, QC validation, labeling, and warehouse organization. The role ensures every batch meets ICON's quality specification before reaching print crews and maintains accurate supersack inventory. The manager establishes and maintains standard operating procedures for Titan Refill cadence and traffic, coordinating with Print and Logistics teams to protect product quality and continuous availability. Additional duties include maintaining clean, efficient site conditions, overseeing safety and QA/QC protocol compliance, scheduling and deploying raw-material inventory and project-demand shipments, supervising and developing the production team, refining SOPs for refill loops and waste management, and owning production data reporting with standardized inputs and dashboards.
Minimum qualifications include five or more years in production, plant operations, or materials management (preferably in manufacturing, construction, or field operations), demonstrated experience managing day-to-day batch plant or material production, people-management experience with direct supervision of production or operations staff, strong grasp of production fundamentals, proven ability to develop and enforce SOPs, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with ERP/inventory/production-data systems, and effective communication skills. The role requires on-site presence in Austin five days per week with early start times and extended or weekend hours during high project demand periods.
Preferred experience includes dry-mix batching or spec-critical material production, batch plant or concrete/cementitious material production environments, managing multiple sites or mobile/field-deployed production assets, mechanical aptitude for diagnosing hydraulic and pneumatic systems, experience modernizing production data inputs and building dashboards, Lean/Six Sigma background, and exposure to 3D printing or additive construction technologies.
