xAI is seeking a Manager of Facilities Operations to lead critical data center infrastructure operations at its Memphis facility. This role owns the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of mission-critical systems including power distribution, cooling, HVAC, UPS, generators, and environmental monitoring. You will lead and develop a team of Facilities Operations Supervisors and Technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include: • Leading and mentoring a technical team, driving hands-on excellence and professional development • Owning maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of all data center infrastructure systems • Developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs with measurable KPIs • Creating and enforcing standard operating procedures, emergency response plans, and change management processes • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards; championing safety culture • Partnering with engineering, procurement, and operations teams on equipment lifecycle management • Managing inventory, asset tracking, spare parts strategy, and capital projects • Leading cross-functional initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize energy utilization • Managing vendor relationships, service contracts, and performance • Providing 24/7 on-call leadership for critical incidents • Developing and managing operational budgets and resource planning Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field (or equivalent experience); 7+ years managing critical facilities systems in data center or mission-critical environments; 5+ years of people leadership experience managing technical teams; in-depth knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems; proficiency with building management systems and computerized maintenance management systems; strong prioritization and decision-making under pressure. Must pass background checks and be available for evenings/weekends as needed.
