Mainspring Energy manufactures fuel-flexible, low-emissions local power solutions for Fortune 500 companies, data centers, and utilities. This role manages the complete reverse logistics and depot repair operations for all field-returned electronic control assemblies supporting the installed fleet of Linear Generators.
You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of electronic field replaceable units (FRUs), including return authorization, receiving, diagnostics, repair, testing, refurbishment, inventory management, warranty administration, and redeployment. The objective is to maximize fleet availability by ensuring rapid, reliable repair with full traceability while driving continuous product reliability improvements through structured failure analysis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the complete reverse logistics process from RMA authorization through repair, testing, and redeployment
- Managing daily depot operations to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality repair of electronic assemblies
- Establishing standardized repair, testing, and quality control procedures
- Maintaining exchange inventory to support rapid field replacement and maximize customer uptime
- Developing and managing repair technicians, test technicians, and depot support personnel
- Driving improvements in repair turnaround time, first-pass yield, inventory accuracy, and productivity
- Partnering with Field Analytics and Field Service teams to prioritize critical repairs and handle escalations
- Collaborating with Engineering and Product Development to identify failure modes and implement corrective actions
- Working with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality on warranty recovery and component availability
- Developing depot capacity plans, staffing models, tooling requirements, and capital investment plans
- Implementing Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitoring key operational metrics and communicating performance through business reviews and executive reporting
Success metrics include: repair turnaround times under five business days, standardized processes across all assemblies, complete asset traceability, performance dashboards for visibility, structured feedback loops driving product reliability improvements, a highly engaged technical team, fleet availability exceeding 99.5%, and scalable operations supporting future growth.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline. Master's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or Business Administration preferred.
Experience: 10+ years in industrial electronics manufacturing, depot repair operations, or field service support. Minimum 5 years leading technical operations or repair organizations. Experience supporting industrial power generation, distributed energy systems, automation equipment, or mission-critical industrial products. Experience managing reverse logistics and repairable asset programs. Experience leading cross-functional teams across Engineering, Supply Chain, Service, and Quality. Experience developing repair procedures, functional test processes, and quality systems.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of industrial electronic control systems. Experience with PCB troubleshooting and component-level repair. Knowledge of embedded controllers, PLCs, power electronics, and industrial communication protocols. Familiarity with firmware management and configuration control. Working knowledge of ERP, service management, and inventory systems. Strong analytical and root cause investigation skills. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Preferred Certifications: IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721, IPC J-STD-001, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), APICS CPIM or CSCP.
