Form Energy is hiring a Process Engineering Manager to lead electrode manufacturing operations at their high-volume battery production facility in Weirton, WV. You will oversee a team of process engineers, equipment engineers, and technicians responsible for the performance, reliability, and efficiency of electrode production lines spanning powder handling, mixing, and roll-to-roll tape formation processes.
Key responsibilities include owning section operating results across all three process areas, holding the team accountable for line cadence, downtime, and throughput. You will manage and develop a small team of engineers and technicians, including staffing, coaching, and performance management decisions. You'll establish and track section-level metrics (OEE, yield, cycle time) and direct resources toward the highest-impact bottlenecks. You will set methods and standards for evaluating floor-level solutions, ensuring fixes are safe, robust, and grounded in sound material science before scale-up. Cross-functional collaboration is essential—you'll represent the section in planning with peer engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve constraints affecting quality and throughput company-wide. Finally, you'll build and prioritize a continuous improvement roadmap balancing waste reduction, ergonomics, and process reliability against production demands.
Form Energy manufactures long-duration iron-air battery systems for grid-scale energy storage. The company has been recognized by TIME as a "Best Invention" and MIT Technology Review as a "Top Climate Tech Company To Watch." They have signed contracts with leading US electric utilities and are scaling production at their first high-volume manufacturing facility.
Relocation assistance is available. The facility is a 550,000-square-foot hub for high-volume battery production, conveniently located near Pittsburgh, PA.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years in manufacturing/production operations, including team management experience
- Strong material science foundation—able to connect powder properties and tape mechanics to process outcomes
- Proven track record hiring, developing, and managing process/equipment engineers or technicians
- Deep familiarity with manufacturing metrics (OEE, downtime) and a root-cause approach to problem-solving
- Working knowledge of roll-to-roll processes—powder transformation, mixing, web handling
- Strong influencing skills and experience representing team priorities to peer managers and engineering leadership
- Pragmatic, curious, and comfortable with ambiguity as the organization scales
