SpaceX is seeking an experienced Manager of Datacenter Compute Infrastructure to build and lead the sourcing and supply chain strategy team for SpaceXAI's large-scale AI training clusters and compute facilities. This role oversees GPU/accelerator sourcing, CPUs, storage systems, ODM/CM relationships, and server/rack components.
You will define commodity strategies, build team capabilities, and align roadmaps with engineering and vendor partners. Key responsibilities include building and mentoring a high-performing sourcing team; defining multi-year commodity strategies in partnership with engineering teams; overseeing end-to-end sourcing, supplier qualification, and performance management; orchestrating demand across SpaceXAI entities; negotiating major agreements on pricing, volume, and technology access; managing ODM/CM relationships; monitoring supply chain risks; driving cost reduction through should-cost modeling and value engineering; and tracking KPIs with regular senior leadership updates.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or commodity management with deep focus on compute hardware (GPUs, CPUs, storage, servers), plus 3+ years leading sourcing teams. Technical understanding of datacenter compute architectures, experience in hyperscale or AI infrastructure environments, and background working with major compute suppliers and contract manufacturers are highly valued. You should be comfortable with rapid iteration, aggressive build schedules, and thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments. Willingness to travel domestically and international is required. Position is based in Palo Alto, CA or Austin, TX with onsite requirement.
