SpaceX is seeking an experienced manager to lead the datacenter compute infrastructure sourcing and supply chain team supporting SpaceXAI's large-scale AI training clusters and compute facilities. This role oversees GPU/accelerator sourcing, CPUs, storage systems, ODM/CM relationships, and server/rack components.
Key responsibilities include building and mentoring a high-performing sourcing team; defining commodity strategies and multi-year roadmaps in partnership with engineering and architecture teams; overseeing end-to-end sourcing, supplier qualification, and performance management to meet aggressive build schedules; orchestrating demand across SpaceXAI entities and aligning internal roadmaps with key vendors to secure preferential allocation and capacity; negotiating major agreements on pricing, volume, technology access, and delivery; managing ODM/CM relationships and driving improvements in server and rack designs, cost, and delivery; monitoring supply chain risks and implementing mitigation plans; driving cost reduction through should-cost modeling and value engineering; tracking team and category KPIs; and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years in business, supply chain, or engineering (or 12+ years without degree); 6+ years in global supply chain, procurement, or commodity management focused on compute hardware; 3+ years in people management; 3+ years building and leading sourcing teams.
Preferred experience includes technical understanding of datacenter compute architectures, experience in hyperscale or AI infrastructure environments, background with major compute suppliers and contract manufacturers, strong leadership and negotiation skills, and proven ability to secure supply in constrained markets. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally required. Position based in Austin, TX or Palo Alto, CA with onsite requirement. ITAR compliance required (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee status).
