Orenda develops, builds, owns, and operates battery energy storage systems (BESS) in dense urban environments to support renewable energy integration and grid efficiency. The Manager of Central Operations leads the fleet's 24/7 command center and real-time control function, reporting to the Director of Asset Management. You will own the unified monitoring and data intelligence operation of the asset management department, currently delivered through an outsourced NERC-CIP certified NOC vendor and an in-house daytime desk that you will build and operate. Your core mission is to make the vendor perform, develop genuine in-house capability, and retain operating knowledge within Orenda so the company understands how its assets run and earn better than any external vendor. Key responsibilities include: establishing alarm philosophy and response playbooks for fleet monitoring; building and running the in-house daytime operations desk; dispatching field operations and OEM vendors; serving as the 24/7 real-time operational contact for utility grid operators; maintaining the official event log for all alarms, actions, and communications; managing the fleet's inbound call line (including emergency agency calls); ingesting high-volume telemetry and market data to produce summaries and dashboards; coordinating with construction and development teams on monitoring readiness; building and leading control-center and performance teams; monitoring asset degradation against warranty curves; providing revenue strategy and operating constraints to the automated dispatch engine; and auditing all market revenue statements against Orenda's own meter data. You will start hands-on across the desk and analytics, then progressively build and lead teams as the function scales. This role is ideal for an operations center leader with shift-work experience, strong vendor management discipline, and a data-driven approach to accountability.
