amo is seeking a Location Data Engineer to join their team in central Paris. This is a technical, product-oriented data role focused on working with large-scale datasets generated by the company's products, transforming raw data into meaningful signals, insights, and features.
You will work across the entire data lifecycle: building reliable pipelines, exploring and understanding complex datasets, developing features, and creating tools and visualizations to assess data quality and impact. You'll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and data teams to identify learnings from data and turn them into production systems.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Exploring large and complex datasets to understand user behavior and identify patterns and signals
- Transforming raw data into reliable, well-defined features for products and engineering teams
- Designing, building, and maintaining pipelines that process large volumes of data efficiently and reliably
- Taking ideas from exploration to production: prototyping on historical data, evaluating quality, and building pipelines for scale
- Building datasets and features that power product experiences, internal systems, analytics, and ML models
- Using data to investigate hypotheses, understand behaviors, and answer ambiguous questions
- Developing metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess whether signals and features work
- Creating analyses, dashboards, and visualizations that make complex datasets understandable
- Building tooling to inspect examples, debug pipelines, and understand system outputs
- Working with engineers and product teams to identify opportunities where data can enhance products
- Improving performance, reliability, and maintainability of data infrastructure
- Monitoring data quality and investigating unexpected changes or anomalies
The company works onsite 5 days per week in a central Paris location near Opéra (Metro lines 3, 8, 9 and RER A). Benefits include 100% health care coverage, generous parental leave with salary maintained at 100%, and 8–9 weeks total vacation per year (5 weeks PTO plus 1–2 weeks RTT plus ~11 bank holidays). The company shuts down entirely twice yearly (2 weeks in summer, 1 week in winter) for team recharge. International relocation support is provided, including visa sponsorship, 1 month of covered Airbnb, relocation agency assistance, help with French paperwork, and French lessons.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience with data-intensive systems
- Very comfortable with SQL and manipulating large datasets
- Experience with one or more modern data technologies such as Spark, DBT, Dagster, BigQuery, ClickHouse, DuckDB, or equivalent tools
- Strong analytical skills: ability to dig into data, test hypotheses, and understand system behavior
- Ability to turn exploratory analysis into reliable, production-ready data pipelines and features
- Familiarity with data modeling, pipeline orchestration, and large-scale data processing
- Ability to communicate findings clearly through metrics, visualizations, dashboards, or other tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience building data products or features directly used by consumer-facing products
- Experience working with high-volume event, behavioral, sensor, geospatial, or time-series data
- Familiarity with statistics, machine learning, or feature engineering
- Experience taking a data problem from ambiguous question through exploration, prototyping, evaluation, and production
- Experience building internal tools or visualizations for exploring and debugging complex datasets
