You will join the underwriting team as a Life Underwriter responsible for evaluating and making risk decisions on life insurance applications. Your core responsibilities include:
• Evaluate individual applications by assessing medical history, physical condition, occupational hazards, and financial background to determine whether to accept, modify, or decline risk
• Master underwriting policies, guidelines, practices, and procedures specific to the organization
• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly in both written and verbal formats to internal and external stakeholders
• Gather necessary information efficiently and independently to support decision-making with minimal direction
• Champion process improvements while maintaining mortality expectations
• Work comfortably with ambiguity in a growing, collaborative startup environment

REQUIREMENTS:
• 3–5+ years of experience in medical Life/Health underwriting (US-based underwriting experience is a plus)
• Experience assessing and summarizing Attending Physician Statements (APS) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) is highly preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of risk selection: medical, non-medical, and financial
• Strong critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills
• Experience underwriting both term and permanent life insurance products
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Positive, inclusive, agile, and collaborative mindset
• In-process or completed industry designations (e.g., LOMA, ALMI, FMLI, ALU, FALU) preferred
