Kin Insurance is seeking a Liability Claims Specialist to manage third-party homeowners liability claims from first notice of loss through resolution, including litigation. This role is critical as Kin's book of business expands and requires deep expertise in complex casualty files.
You will investigate coverage, liability, and damages on claims involving bodily injury, property damage, and multiple parties. Responsibilities include conducting recorded statements, consulting with police and experts, inspecting property damage, and reviewing medical records to build comprehensive claim pictures. You'll evaluate liability and damages exposure, set and adjust reserves based on investigation findings, and manage pre-suit and litigation claims with outside counsel, including mediations and depositions.
Additional duties involve identifying and referring potential subrogation or fraud indicators, maintaining clear and accurate claim file documentation in compliance with state regulations, and owning a caseload of claims from FNOL through resolution. You'll leverage AI tools where they support faster, more accurate claims handling.
Success in the first 6–12 months means managing a full caseload of liability claims accurately and on time, ensuring litigation files progress smoothly with outside counsel, improving reserve accuracy through consistent investigation practices, and catching subrogation and fraud referrals early.
You'll bring 1–2 years minimum experience adjusting liability property claims, including bodily injury and property damage, with direct experience on attorney-represented, litigated claims. You need working knowledge of multiple state insurance laws and good faith claims handling, an active adjuster license (or ability to obtain one), and the ability to manage high-volume caseloads with competing deadlines. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills in claim settlement contexts and a data-driven, analytical approach to evaluating liability and damages are essential. Prior carrier experience is a bonus.
