Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems and AI. The company develops Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) for seabed exploration, operating full-ocean-depth platforms and executing multi-million-dollar contracts alongside Robot-as-a-Service operations. The R&D Technician Lead orchestrates daily activities for a team of R&D technicians, setting priorities and allocating tasks while remaining deeply hands-on in building, troubleshooting, and assembling complex AUVs and electromechanical systems. This role serves as the critical communication bridge between R&D technician teams and engineering, providing technical feedback and progress updates while coordinating with production stakeholders to navigate evolving requirements. Key responsibilities include contributing across all stages of vehicle product development and manufacturing, building and integrating complex electro-mechanical assemblies, applying expertise with hand tools and manufacturing equipment, and managing computer production systems (MES, NetSuite, JIRA). The Lead Technician trains and supports new operators, prioritizes work activities to meet on-time delivery goals, and actively participates in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires building a positive, collaborative team culture that promotes product knowledge and cross-training. Required qualifications include 7+ years of electronics experience in R&D environments, proficiency with cable and wiring harness building/troubleshooting, soldering and crimping skills, understanding of product lifecycle and LEAN manufacturing, and familiarity with electrical schematics and electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems). Candidates must be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to pivot quickly in fast-paced environments. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance is required. Preferred experience includes machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, cross-functional team collaboration, and hoisting equipment operation or MA state hoisting license.
