Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join the Drones team. You will bridge cutting-edge design and efficient, high-volume production for advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) including Bolt, Ghost, Anvil, and future autonomous platforms.
In this role, you will support products from early design phase through manufacturing process development and production ramps for multiple products. You will leverage technical expertise and leadership skills to set objectives, build cross-functional teams, and drive rapid project execution. Key responsibilities include optimizing manufacturing processes, reducing costs, increasing efficiencies on existing technologies, and scaling new products to full production.
You will build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Manufacturing Engineers with deep product knowledge in mechanical, electrical, system integration, and end-of-line testing. You will lead product transitions from concept to prototype, pilot, and full production with speed, flexibility, scalability, and first-time quality. Daily responsibilities include sustaining support for product lines, real-time problem-solving for mechanical fitment, electrical/harnessing, and software/firmware issues.
You will work cross-functionally with design, quality, and supply chain teams to drive design-for-manufacturing best practices and facilitate transitions from design to production. You will own documentation for manufacturing at scale (MBOMs, work instructions, requirements), uphold quality management programs, facilitate make-versus-buy decisions, and coordinate with vendors. You will contribute to end-customer hardware design, analyze metrics for continuous improvement (cost reduction, quality improvement, capacity increase), and instill a culture of innovation, teamwork, and accountability.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in a technical field (engineering, math, or hard science)
- 5+ years in manufacturing or similar prototyping position
- Demonstrated in-kind or direct team leadership skills with backing examples
- World-class mission assurance, quality, attention to detail, and dedication
- Genuine interest in manufacturing and thirst for learning
- Demonstrated ability to creatively deliver hardware in resource-constrained environments
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience building or transforming successful production operation organizations and leading large-scale change management initiatives
- Harness and PCBA fabrication experience, including prior work with or setup/modification/monitoring of SMT processes
- Experience leading and managing teams on fast-paced, complex projects
- Hands-on experience with R/C and/or autonomous flight vehicles, flight controllers, or related control systems
- Software scripting experience in any language
- Experience in NX/Teamcenter
