Rocket Lab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the manufacturing team at Sinclair Interplanetary in Toronto, Ontario. This role reports to the engineering manager and is responsible for improving efficiency and yield in the production of ADCS (Attitude Determination and Control System) components for satellites. You will lead a manufacturing team focused on high-reliability aerospace production. Key responsibilities include documenting manufacturing procedures, creating and maintaining bills of materials and work instructions for mechanical and electrical technicians, and continuously improving manufacturing volume and efficiency through process refinement. You'll conduct design-for-manufacture (DFM) reviews on new product designs, analyze and resolve manufacturing discrepancies and non-conformances, lead root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions. Additional duties include researching and sourcing equipment and manufacturing methods, conducting cost and schedule estimation studies, training production personnel on new processes and equipment, and aligning local business processes with global standards. You bring a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline, with 5+ years of manufacturing environment experience. You have demonstrated experience managing teams and mentoring junior team members. You're proficient with quality tools including Lean principles, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action (RCACA), Metrology, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Statistical Process Control (SPC). You have hands-on knowledge of mechanical processing and assembly (machining, 3D printing, coating) and electronics manufacturing (soldering, dipping, inspection, rework). Familiarity with environmental testing (electromagnetic, thermal, vibration, vacuum, shock) is required. Nice-to-have qualifications include a Master's degree in engineering, experience designing or manufacturing space-based hardware, exposure to Infor LN, PowerBI, and SQL interfaces, Python and/or SQL programming skills, experience with time studies and layout improvement, and familiarity with cleanroom/cleanbench and ESD-sensitive hardware best practices. Strong organizational skills, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, and excellent communication skills are valued.
