Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Lead Industrial Engineer to join its Manufacturing organization in Costa Mesa. The role involves leading an industrial engineering team responsible for optimizing manufacturing operations across a portfolio of product lines, including static equipment, ground vehicles, sensors, and autonomous systems. You will drive production operations to achieve key performance indicators, support new production line development and product implementation, and deploy industrial engineering best practices across Anduril's operations, including the new 5M sq ft Arsenal-1 manufacturing facility.
Key responsibilities include owning the design and implementation of production lines and factories in collaboration with Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering, and Material Flow teams. You will partner with manufacturing leadership to assess build plan scenarios and align factory design strategy for future sites. The role requires leading initiatives across multiple Anduril sites to solve production issues, establish new facilities, and harmonize Industrial Engineering practices globally.
You will effectively lead a team of Industrial Engineers across multiple product families, setting up and optimizing production systems. You'll play a key role in growing the Industrial Engineering organization by creating standardized tools and processes, mentoring junior team members, and fostering a collaborative, accountability-driven environment. You'll serve as a trusted subject matter expert in industrial engineering fundamentals including capacity and labor modeling, factory design, simulation, process improvement, and data analytics.
Core industrial engineering responsibilities include producing and maintaining capacity models and production ramp plans to define labor planning, capital expenditure requirements, workstation design, and throughput gaps. You will design facility layouts and production lines using CAD and simulation to meet process requirements, enable production targets, optimize resource allocation, and maximize productivity and quality. You'll identify and champion improvements to high-variability areas and production bottlenecks, driving cross-disciplinary resolution. A data-driven approach to production design and process improvements will be essential to improving throughput.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Excellence, or related field, with 8+ years of industrial engineering or similar experience. You must demonstrate ability to scale production in resource-constrained environments and measurably improve production metrics such as cost, yield, and throughput. Deep understanding of manufacturing systems, processes, and organizational requirements is essential. Proficiency in industrial engineering tools (CAD 2D/3D, Excel, Minitab) and strong project management skills leading cross-functional initiatives are required. You must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
