Octopus Energy, France's 5th largest energy provider in 10 years, is seeking an experienced Lead Data Analytics to lead the Commercial Data pod. This is fundamentally a business partnership role where you will deeply understand the challenges of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Experience teams, define the right problems to solve together, and translate those needs into high-impact data solutions.
You will be responsible for animating the pod and ensuring quality, business relevance, and impact of deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnership & Impact:
- Initiate and develop high-impact data projects using the full data toolkit (e.g., customer segmentation, cross-selling)
- Accompany the pod and business teams in leveraging AI to create real value
- Prioritize impact and agility in all initiatives
Pod Leadership & Strategy:
- Define the Commercial pod's roadmap and strategy in alignment with business priorities
- Manage pod members, foster collaboration, and support professional development
- Ensure technical quality and clarity of data modeling
- Encourage the team to use the full data toolkit (AI, Machine Learning) where appropriate
- Deliver each project with measurable impact
Group Contribution:
- Participate in knowledge sharing and mutualization efforts across France and the broader group
- Contribute to data community animation in France and the group

Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years as Data Analyst or Data Scientist
- At least 2 years managing teams in a similar context
- Strong background in commercial data analysis, predictive modeling, and reporting
- Academic background in statistics, mathematics, economics, specialized data degree, or engineering school with strong data aptitude
Technical Skills:
- Mastery of data analysis tools (SQL, Python/R) and data modeling with DBT
- Comfort with data visualization tools
- Daily, appropriate use of AI
- Knowledge of Machine Learning or recommendation algorithms
Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development capabilities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving; self-driven and proactive
Languages:
- Fluent English (spoken and written) to interact with international colleagues
