GoFundMe is seeking a Lead Analyst, Transaction Monitoring to join its Trust & Safety organization. This role is responsible for conducting complex investigations into transactions, fundraisers, donors, and customers to identify suspicious activity and support GoFundMe's global financial crime prevention program.
Key responsibilities include investigating complex money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crime typologies by analyzing customer behavior, transaction activity, payment instruments, devices, and account relationships. You will analyze transactions using internal systems, payment processor tools, and analytical platforms to detect financial crime indicators, and analyze large datasets to identify emerging trends and opportunities to improve monitoring controls.
The role involves leading investigations into complex donations and fundraisers to identify suspicious or high-risk activity, assessing whether suspicious activity should be escalated internally in accordance with AML/CTF procedures, and reviewing investigations completed by Transaction Monitoring Analysts to ensure they meet quality and regulatory standards.
You will provide coaching, mentorship, and day-to-day guidance to Transaction Monitoring Analysts, supporting their technical development and investigation quality. You'll deliver constructive feedback, identify knowledge gaps, and drive continuous improvement of transaction monitoring rules, operational procedures, typologies, and quality frameworks.
Additional responsibilities include preparing clear investigation documentation suitable for internal review and regulatory reporting, collaborating with internal stakeholders to investigate and mitigate financial crime risks, staying informed on emerging trends and regulatory developments, assisting with audits and regulatory reviews, and leading cross-functional initiatives in partnership with Product, Legal, Compliance, and Trust & Safety teams.
The position may involve reviewing sensitive material including disturbing images, videos, offensive language, and content depicting violence or exploitation. Some weekend and holiday work may be required as part of scheduled shifts and on-call emergency coverage.
