Salary: EUR 18,400 - 27,600 / annual
GoCardless is a global bank payment company processing US$130bn+ annually across 30+ countries. This KYC Specialist role is part of the international Customer Operations group, based in Riga, Latvia.
You will be responsible for onboarding and verifying new GoCardless customers, conducting Customer Due Diligence reviews for existing clients, and ensuring all processes are compliant and customer-centric. As a senior member of the team, you will act as a primary escalation point for compliance-related issues within the team and across departments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing Adverse Media, PEP, and Sanctions screening escalations, providing detailed risk assessments and recommendations
- Supporting merchants during onboarding and verification stages
- Handling internal escalations for potential fraud, ML/TF activities, and complex cases
- Conducting due diligence checks on new and existing merchants in accordance with internal and external requirements
- Collaborating with AML Financial Crime and Customer Success teams to create seamless onboarding experiences
- Upskilling team members, sharing knowledge proactively, and proposing process improvements
Required qualifications:
- Verbal fluency in English with clear written communication skills
- Previous experience in KYC or AML
- Detail-oriented with ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Comfortable working with internal stakeholders at all levels
- Problem-solving approach to compliance and product requirements
Preferred experience includes tools like Zendesk, Looker, or Lexis Nexis, though not essential. The role offers flexible working arrangements, learning budget, generous time off, and comprehensive wellbeing support.
