As IT Support Lead, you will drive operational effectiveness of the IT function and lead a high-performing support team. You'll report to the Head of IT and be responsible for day-to-day operations, team performance, and strategic direction aligned to business growth. This is a hands-on role where you'll actively resolve complex technical issues, automate workflows, and mentor IT Engineers while progressing toward an IT Manager position.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and support the IT team, overseeing workload distribution and performance management
- Set strategic direction for IT, aligning team objectives to business needs
- Act as escalation point for complex technical issues, ensuring prompt resolution and user satisfaction
- Ensure consistent, compliant support for Windows, macOS, Linux, mobile devices, and office equipment
- Develop IT standards, knowledge base articles, and training resources
- Drive continuous improvement through automation and process optimization
- Oversee onboarding/offboarding across multiple UK and international locations
- Collaborate with IT, Security, and Engineering teams to maintain uptime, reliability, and data protection
- Select, configure, and manage ITSM/ticketing systems and report on support metrics
- Support office and remote working technology needs
The role requires a hybrid arrangement with three days per week in-office at Kent and London locations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5+ years in IT Support, IT Systems, or Service Desk environments
- Demonstrated experience with MDM platforms (Jumpcloud, Jamf, or Kandji)
- Proven experience leading teams with strong coaching abilities
- Track record supporting high-performing, inclusive teams
- Experience implementing and optimizing ITSM systems (Zendesk, Jira, Freshdesk) in scaling organizations
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with computers (especially macOS), mobile devices, and peripherals
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of security protocols and threat mitigation strategies
- Willingness to travel to office locations in Kent and London as needed
NICE TO HAVES:
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell) for automation
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud)
- Direct experience scaling IT functions in high-growth tech environments
- Fintech or financial services industry experience
- Network management and troubleshooting experience
