Salary: USD 120,000 - 200,000 / annual

ChipAgents builds AI agents that help semiconductor engineers design and verify chips faster. We're seeking an IT Operations Lead to own the technology infrastructure that enables our team to work effectively. You'll manage internal tools, employee devices, onboarding/offboarding, and office networks—serving as the primary point of contact for employee technology issues. This is a hands-on role with broad ownership and the opportunity to shape how IT operates at the company. Key responsibilities include: - Administering business applications, accounts, permissions, and software licenses - Owning IT readiness for new hires (equipment, accounts, access, setup) and coordinating offboarding - Managing the full lifecycle of employee laptops, workstations, and peripherals - Providing hardware, software, account, and connectivity support - Configuring and maintaining office Wi-Fi, wired networks, and meeting-room technology - Implementing practical security and reliability measures that preserve developer productivity - Automating repetitive administration and building self-service resources - Supporting engineering-led internal infrastructure projects You'll approach IT as an enabling function: remove friction, keep developers productive, and make everyday technology work reliably. Success means fast onboarding, quick issue resolution, and tools that help people get their work done. You'll bring practical judgment to security and reliability, choosing approaches proportionate to risk and minimizing administrative overhead. Requirements: - Experience independently managing IT operations, systems administration, or employee technology support in a growing organization - Hands-on experience administering business applications, user accounts, identity and access systems, and employee devices - Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, operating systems, applications, and networking - Familiarity with device management platforms and practical endpoint security - Working knowledge of office networking (Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls) - Productivity-first approach to IT: evaluating tools and processes by how effectively they help people work, avoiding unnecessary approvals and restrictions - Demonstrated judgment balancing security, reliability, and development speed - Clear communication, patience, and service-oriented approach - Strong follow-through and ability to prioritize competing requests independently Preferred qualifications: - Experience building or improving IT processes at a startup - Experience automating provisioning and administration using scripts, APIs, or workflow tools - Familiarity with Linux, cloud platforms, and supporting engineering teams - Experience supporting security audits through accurate records and lightweight processes
