Skydio is the leading US autonomous drone company, serving defense, public safety, and enterprise customers. This IT Operations Engineer role is based at Skydio's San Mateo headquarters and requires 5 days/week onsite presence.
You will be the primary point of contact for employee technology support, owning the full lifecycle of employee technology from onboarding through offboarding. This includes provisioning and deprovisioning accounts and devices, managing hardware requests and inventory, administering identity and access management systems (Okta), and providing hands-on technical support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues across Linux, Windows, and Mac environments.
Key responsibilities include: serving as the first point of contact for walk-up IT requests and helpdesk tickets; managing new hire onboarding to ensure seamless Day 1 experiences; administering Okta for SSO, MFA, user provisioning, and group management; managing device enrollment and compliance using JumpCloud; handling the full equipment request lifecycle from intake through provisioning; maintaining IT asset inventory and coordinating hardware refresh and repairs; troubleshooting and maintaining conference room and meeting space technology (displays, cameras, microphones, video conferencing); and documenting processes and configurations.
You should be a proactive, personable operator comfortable being the visible face of IT in the office. The ideal candidate treats all requests with equal urgency, demonstrates curiosity and initiative, and continuously seeks to improve processes and automate repetitive tasks.
Required qualifications: degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience); minimum 2 years supporting employees in a fast-paced office environment; hands-on technical experience with Linux, Windows, and Mac; experience with Okta administration (user imports, activation, password/MFA resets, group assignments); experience with JumpCloud or similar MDM tooling; comfort troubleshooting AV and meeting room technology; networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs); strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.
