ID.me is seeking an IT Operations Engineer to join their IT Operations team, which maintains core systems for a ~1,000-person company. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring end-to-end ownership: you will build integrations and automations connecting IT and business platforms, ensure critical services remain highly available, and serve as a technical resource for the team.
You will operate with high autonomy, investigating unfamiliar systems, reverse-engineering how components fit together in a fast-moving environment, and deciding priorities. You will ship pragmatically, favoring solid incremental improvements over perfect solutions, while keeping Security and Compliance close. You will raise issues early, communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and help teammates grow.
Key responsibilities include: designing and maintaining integrations and automations across IT and business systems; administering and optimizing core IT platforms and SaaS applications; scripting and deploying solutions organization-wide using Python, Bash, or similar languages; integrating systems through APIs and webhooks with proper authentication and error handling; performing advanced technical troubleshooting across IT systems, endpoints, and identity; implementing proactive measures for high availability and monitoring; contributing to disaster recovery planning; identifying and delivering system improvements; creating documentation and runbooks; partnering with engineering, security, and compliance teams; and sharing knowledge with teammates.
Required qualifications: 3+ years hands-on experience as an IT/systems engineer in an enterprise environment; Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent; strong API fluency (REST/JSON, OAuth, webhooks); ability to read and write code; experience with enterprise IT platforms and SaaS administration; and excellent communication skills. The role is based in McLean, VA or Mountain View, CA, with full-time in-office expectations (five days per week).
