Apex manufactures satellite buses at scale for the commercial aerospace industry, combining software, vertical integration, and hardware design to serve the rapidly growing market of payload companies launching to space. As IT Manager, you'll lead Apex's information technology infrastructure, systems, and teams in a senior-level operational role reporting to the Director of IT & Cybersecurity at the Playa Vista headquarters. You'll own strategic IT planning aligned with organizational objectives, including IT strategy development, resource allocation, and budget forecasting. Day-to-day, you'll manage IT operations including network maintenance, hardware/software procurement, backup systems, and infrastructure uptime. You'll analyze current systems and assets to recommend upgrades, migrations, or optimizations, ensuring scalability, reliability, and integration with business processes. Project management is a core responsibility—you'll lead major IT initiatives such as system implementations, cloud migrations, and cybersecurity enhancements, managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder coordination across departments. You'll evaluate and enhance cybersecurity measures through risk assessments, policy development, and incident response, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and conducting audits. Vendor and budget management fall under your purview: negotiate IT services, software licenses, and hardware contracts while controlling IT budgets and optimizing costs. You'll also provide technical support and training to end-users, developing programs on new technologies and best practices. Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (Master's preferred); PMP, CISSP, CISM, or ITIL certification; 5–10 years IT experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Technical proficiency needed in networking, cloud computing (O365/Intune, AWS GovCloud, Azure, SharePoint), scripting, and cybersecurity tools (SIEM, NESSUS, CASB/SASE, SOAR, XDR/EDR). Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities required to bridge technical and business teams.
