Fluidstack is building civilization-scale AI compute infrastructure, acquiring power, designing and operating data centers at unprecedented scale and speed. The Infrastructure team is responsible for the physical layer that will train frontier AI models. In this role, you will own the end-to-end physical implementation of hyperscale data center networks. This includes designing fiber plant architecture, transceiver planning, and structured cabling integration for sites spanning 10s to 100s of GWs of capacity. Key responsibilities: - Design and implement physical data center network infrastructure: fiber plants, cross-connects, and patching schedules for 100K+ port sites - Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and construction teams on power, cooling, space, pathways, and rack integration - Develop and interpret construction drawings using Bluebeam, ACC, and Procore - Define cassette types (MTP/MPO Base-8/12/16), trunk counts, and structured cabling hierarchies - Model fiber utilization and overbuild across multiple hardware generations - Select and validate optics (400G/800G DR4, FR4, LR4, SR8, coherent DCI) by reach and loss budget - Own ICT Basis of Design, SOPs, and master specifications (Division 26/27/28/33) - Integrate designs with DCIM tools (NetBox, custom tools) to track strands, ports, and patching - Maintain loss-budget and margin models for every link type You should have deep experience designing hyperscale or cloud-provider data center networks (1000+ racks, 100K+ fiber strands), expert knowledge of structured cabling systems (Corning, Panduit, CommScope) and MPO/MTP ecosystems, and command of optical standards (IEEE 802.3, OIF) and transceiver technologies. Fiber loss budgets, dispersion, and testing methodologies (OTDR, insertion loss, polarity verification) should be second nature. Experience integrating designs into DCIM tools is essential. RCDD certification, coherent DCI expertise, and multi-generation optics roadmapping are bonuses.
