Black Forest Labs, the team behind Latent Diffusion, Stable Diffusion, and FLUX, is seeking an IT Engineer to build and scale their workforce infrastructure. This is a hands-on build role focused on transforming a largely manual IT environment into automated, code-defined infrastructure.
You will own the complete endpoint lifecycle for the macOS fleet, including purchasing, zero-touch provisioning, MDM management, and device retrieval. You'll lead the company's MDM migration across all endpoints and modernize identity and access management across the SaaS vendor stack, replacing manual administration with automated joiner-mover-leaver lifecycle processes (SSO, SCIM, provisioning/de-provisioning).
Key responsibilities include: defining IT infrastructure as code with configuration and access managed in version control; building automation and internal tooling to eliminate routine manual work; implementing identity, access, and endpoint security controls that make the secure path the fastest path; providing technical support for the Freiburg office and remote support for San Francisco; managing video conferencing equipment; and developing tooling and reporting to track operational health through endpoint metrics and support data.
You should have hands-on IT and corporate engineering experience in fast-growing startups, with proven expertise in macOS fleet management, MDM platforms (Jamf, Intune, or similar), Apple Business Manager, and zero-touch provisioning. Strong experience with identity and access administration (IdP, SSO/SAML, SCIM lifecycle automation) is essential. You'll need scripting and automation skills (Python, shell) and hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform or similar). A security mindset for workforce systems, balancing control with usability, is critical.
The company is headquartered in Freiburg with a growing San Francisco presence. The role operates on a hybrid model with flexibility discussed during interviews—typically 2 days per week in-office or one full week every other week, with monthly in-person weeks for remote arrangements. Travel costs are covered.
