OpenAI's IT organization is seeking an IT Audiovisual (ITAV) Operations Engineer to administer and troubleshoot enterprise AV systems supporting the company's mission to deploy artificial general intelligence. This is a full-time, in-office role based in San Francisco with 30% travel required to support ITAV systems, technical changes, and operational readiness across multiple locations.
You will be responsible for setting up, configuring, administering, and maintaining conference room AV, video conferencing, background music, digital signage, and other ITAV-owned systems. You will serve as the technical bridge between support vendors and ITAV Engineering, resolving escalations that require internal access, administrative permissions, or deeper technical investigation. Key responsibilities include:
- Administering and troubleshooting conference room AV, video conferencing, background music, digital signage, and ITAV-owned systems
- Resolving vendor escalations by diagnosing issues, performing remediation, and verifying service restoration
- Managing ITAV installation and commissioning scope for office builds, refreshes, and moves/adds/changes using established standards
- Executing software updates, configuration changes, equipment replacements, and conferencing requests using established procedures
- Validating operational readiness for new or upgraded systems, including configuration, monitoring, and support handoffs
- Investigating recurring failures and working with ITAV Engineering to implement lasting improvements
- Maintaining runbooks and recovery procedures, training vendors and support technicians
- Partnering with IT Systems Operations on identity and access management
- Building, operating, and improving AI and agentic workflows for repeatable administration, configuration checks, and troubleshooting

REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience implementing and troubleshooting enterprise AV systems, including installation, commissioning, and working from technical designs
- Hands-on experience with Logitech, Cisco, Q-SYS, and Google Meet conferencing hardware
- Hands-on expertise configuring, administering, and troubleshooting video conferencing platforms (Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
- Experience working with support vendors to diagnose escalated issues and perform administrative actions outside vendor permissions
- Experience administering AV or workplace technology services, including configuration, monitoring, software updates, and recovery
- Practical knowledge of enterprise networking (IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, multicast) sufficient to diagnose AV connectivity
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting wayfinding and conference room booking hardware and software
- Experience deploying and troubleshooting AV over IP (Q-LAN, Dante, NDI)
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting systems in the Q-SYS control ecosystem
- Experience applying AV build standards, validating system performance, and maintaining clear documentation
- Experience using IT ticketing systems to prioritize escalations and meet support expectations
- Experience with basic scripting (Bash, Lua, Python, JavaScript) and AI or agentic workflows to automate repeatable work
