OpenAI's International Strategy & Operations team is seeking a world-class strategy and operations leader to support the company's global business expansion outside the United States. This role serves as the connective tissue between global leadership, regional general managers, and cross-functional teams, ensuring OpenAI's technology reaches and benefits users and customers worldwide.
You will own the international operating plan, translating strategic priorities into clear goals, workstreams, milestones, and decisions while identifying cross-functional dependencies early. You'll drive market growth initiatives by collaborating with product, growth, marketing, data science, and regional teams to improve customer acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization across markets.
Key responsibilities include creating visibility into market performance through data analysis and competitive intelligence; producing executive-ready business reviews and strategic recommendations; synthesizing regional feedback into actionable recommendations for product, research, and go-to-market teams; and leading high-priority cross-functional initiatives spanning market readiness, product launches, and operational improvements.
You'll operate at all altitudes—from translating complex market dynamics into clear recommendations for senior executives to working directly with individual contributors to unblock execution. Success requires bringing structure to ambiguity, turning data into actionable insights, influencing without authority, and driving measurable business outcomes in a fast-moving, increasingly global organization.
Ideal candidates have 10–15 years of experience in business operations, strategy, international growth, or corporate strategy roles. You should have a proven track record of taking large, ambiguous business problems from diagnosis through strategy, execution, and measurable results. Strong analytical skills, exceptional written and verbal communication, and experience across product, growth, finance, data science, and marketing functions are essential. Experience at leading management consulting firms, building or scaling international businesses, hands-on SQL/BI skills, and background in AI or fast-growing product-led businesses are valued.
