Echodyne is seeking an Instructional Designer to build and scale training programs for its advanced solid-state radar technology. The company's radars serve autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), drones, and critical infrastructure security applications across automotive, aerospace, defense, and smart-city sectors.
In this role, you will design comprehensive, role-based training curricula for customers, field engineers, and Solutions Engineers. You'll conduct audience and needs analyses, observe field deployments to understand real-world workflows, and develop asynchronous e-learning courses, interactive modules, product simulations, scenario-based exercises, assessments, labs, and job aids. A key responsibility is translating complex technical concepts—radar hardware, software workflows, installation, configuration, calibration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting—into clear, approachable instruction for diverse audiences.
You will partner closely with engineers, product managers, Solutions Engineers, support teams, technical writers, and subject-matter experts to gather and validate content. You'll collaborate with video content developers on scripts, storyboards, demonstrations, and animations. You'll establish templates, standards, and repeatable development processes; manage course content through review, publication, version control, and product-lifecycle updates; and evaluate learning effectiveness using learner feedback, assessment results, and field-readiness indicators. You'll recommend improvements based on performance data, product changes, and lessons learned, while managing multiple projects and release-driven deadlines.
Note: Echodyne's technology is export-controlled by the U.S. Government. The company will ask applicants to identify U.S. citizenship, green card status, or asylum/refugee status in the U.S. as part of the application process.
**REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, learning sciences, educational technology, engineering education, technical communication, or related field—or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of experience designing professional or technical training
- Demonstrated experience developing asynchronous e-learning and performance-support materials
- Working knowledge of adult-learning principles and instructional design approaches (ADDIE, SAM, backward design, Bloom's Taxonomy)
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring platforms such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, or equivalent
- Experience creating meaningful assessments, hands-on exercises, and scenario-based learning
- Experience working with engineers or technical subject-matter experts
- Ability to understand unfamiliar technical systems and explain them accurately to different audiences
- Strong project-management skills and ability to work independently in a product-driven environment
**DESIRED EXPERIENCE**
- Experience developing training for integrated hardware and software products
- Background in radar, RF systems, sensors, electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, defense, robotics, or industrial equipment
- Familiarity with networking, system integration, data visualization, command-line tools, APIs, or cloud-connected applications
- Experience designing hardware labs, software simulations, troubleshooting scenarios, or technical certification programs
- Experience with video-production or visual-design tools (Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, or similar)
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive learning design
- Experience supporting field engineers, Solutions Engineers, customer enablement, or technical support organizations
- Degree or professional certification in instructional design, learning and development, or related discipline
