Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join the Manufacturing Technology Maritime Team in Costa Mesa, California. This role focuses on developing and maintaining discrete event simulation (DES) models and critical chain schedules that drive production planning for Anduril's advanced AI-driven factory manufacturing large-scale autonomous maritime systems. You will be responsible for creating and operating simulation models of maritime manufacturing processes to support production planning and facility layout decisions. Using tools like FlexSim, Simio, AnyLogic, or Arena, you'll visualize production systems, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource allocation. A key aspect of this role involves building critical chain project management models to drive production scheduling and resource leveling. Beyond simulation, you'll write scripts and develop technology-driven workflows to automate production control tasks and streamline planning processes. You'll collaborate closely with manufacturing technology teams to validate simulation assumptions against physical reality and implement process improvements. Your analytical work will support critical business decisions around capital equipment investments, make-vs-buy decisions, and capacity planning. You'll create visualizations and reports that enable cross-functional teams—including design, operations, finance, and leadership—to understand factory behavior and make informed decisions. A significant part of your impact will come from proactively identifying production bottlenecks, resource conflicts, and capacity constraints before they become expensive problems. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field, plus 2+ years of experience in simulation modeling, production planning, or industrial engineering. You must have foundational knowledge of discrete event simulation concepts and proficiency with at least one DES platform. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis tools (Python, Excel, or similar), and the ability to work directly with manufacturing teams are essential. You must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in Operations Research or simulation, experience with critical chain project management tools, scripting and automation experience, familiarity with manufacturing environments (shipyard, aerospace, defense), Python programming skills, knowledge of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies, and experience with digital twin concepts.
