Salary: USD 111,000 - 147,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to join the Manufacturing Team in Atlanta. The role focuses on developing simulation and optimization models to predict and improve manufacturing process behavior, with direct impact on real-world production adaptations.
You will own the design and optimization of manufacturing operations across Anduril's 5M sq ft Arsenal-1 facility, which produces cutting-edge defense hardware including static equipment, ground vehicles, sensors, undersea systems, and flight vehicles. This is a cross-functional role requiring collaboration with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Business Operations teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining 3D simulation-based virtual factory models that capture current processes, physical constraints, business rules, and decision logic to serve as an operational knowledge base
- Creating feasible production schedules and plans for shop floor, warehouse, factory, and supply chain execution across multiple time horizons
- Maintaining an adaptive, data-driven digital reference model of the factory to support transformation projects and investment decisions
- Designing new production lines and workstation layouts for both low-rate and full-rate production using data-driven approaches
- Identifying high-variation processes, bottlenecks, and imbalances caused by line layout, equipment, staffing, or other constraints; flagging issues and driving resolution
- Translating production metrics and KPIs (cycle time, throughput, capacity, utilization, first-pass yield) into actionable improvements
- Producing and maintaining capacity plans, balanced line layouts, staffing allocations, and time standards
- Driving end-to-end operational improvements as products scale in maturity and production rate
- Working across execution and strategic planning for next-generation defense products
The ideal candidate demonstrates holistic ownership of operational challenges, creative problem-solving in fast-paced and resource-limited environments, flexibility with ambiguity, and the ability to serve as connective tissue among operational stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience with Technomatix Plant Sim simulation software or equivalent DES tools (Promodel, FlexSim, Simio, etc.) OR basic knowledge of object-oriented programming (Python, R, C++, Java, etc.) OR experience working with large data sets using SQL or NoSQL
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including facility drawings, assembly drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing procedures for electronics, mechanical, electromechanical assembly, system tests, and structures work
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguity
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Prior experience designing and/or setting up new production lines or factories from process mapping through workstation design
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma principles
- Experience with data visualization applications or SQL queries
- Proven ability to own a complete value chain from start to finish, measuring each step and creating actionable improvements with significant, sustainable business impact
- Prior experience with ERP, WMS, and MES systems
- Knowledge of stochastic and deterministic models and when to apply them
- Proficiency handling large data sets including filtering, trend identification, and graphical representation
- Knowledge of design engineering and manufacturing engineering processes including 3D CAD design/modeling, 3D factory layout, manufacturing process planning, manufacturing simulation, human ergonomics, discrete event simulation, manufacturing data analytics, statistical analysis, and statistical process control
