Anthropic seeks an Incident & Crisis Management Lead to join its Global Safety, Intelligence, and Security (GSIS) team. This senior individual contributor role will operationalize Anthropic's crisis management program, equipping the company to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from incidents and crises spanning physical, supply chain, operational, reputational, and geopolitical domains.
The role sits at the intersection of emergency management, enterprise resilience, and executive communication. You will work closely with the Enterprise Resilience Manager to lead incident and crisis exercises, maintain scalable response plans and playbooks, and build cross-functional team capability to perform under pressure. While this role does not directly manage technology incidents (IT outages, disaster recovery, engineering issues), you will ensure appropriate stakeholder engagement when threats cross physical and technical boundaries.
Key responsibilities include: operationalizing crisis management programs using industry frameworks (NIMS/ICS, ISO 22361, ISO 22301); serving as or supporting the Incident Commander during activations; designing and facilitating exercises and tabletop simulations; leading after-action reviews and tracking corrective actions; partnering with GSOC, Legal, People, Communications, IT Security, and Facilities; maintaining Crisis Management Team rosters and activation contacts; monitoring the threat environment; supporting business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives; and advancing integration of AI tools into threat identification and response.
You will be a visible, trusted partner across the organization, known for steady judgment, clear communication, and continuous improvement. The role carries an on-call requirement with after-hours availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Occasional international travel is expected.
Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in emergency management, incident response, or crisis management; experience leading cross-functional response teams as Incident Commander in high-stress situations; a bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Risk Management, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience; expertise designing and facilitating multi-level incident and crisis exercises; exceptional written and verbal communication skills including executive briefings; ability to build trusted partnerships quickly; and comfort managing multiple workstreams under pressure with minimal oversight.
