Proton.ai is building an AI operating system for wholesale distribution, unifying CRM, PIM, eCommerce AI, and Order & Quote Entry AI into a single platform. The company serves hundreds of distributors, from family-owned shops to publicly-traded enterprises, and is backed by Felicis Ventures and Battery Ventures.
As an Implementation Manager, you will own standard customer engagements from pre-sales solutioning through successful go-live. You'll be the customer-facing owner of the plan, work, and outcome, translating real distributor workflows into implementations that deliver value quickly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner in pre-sales solutioning: join discovery and solution-design conversations, turn requirements into clear scopes and phased plans, surface dependencies and risks early
- Lead delivery from signed agreement through go-live: manage kickoff, project planning, configuration, integrations, data readiness, testing, training, and cutover
- Run stakeholder governance and risk management: establish cadence with customer champions, technical teams, and executives; keep decisions and risks visible; escalate early when plans need to change
- Translate business workflows into technical plans: understand how distributors sell, quote, manage products, and enter orders; configure the right workflow, data model, and integration approach
- Drive integration and data work: assess API, source-system, data-quality, and integration risks; make tradeoffs visible; bring in the right technical owners
- Make go-live real: define acceptance criteria, lead UAT and readiness reviews, prepare users for change, coordinate cutover, ensure adoption post-launch
- Own implementation outcomes: track time to value, on-time go-lives, activation, implementation CSAT, and project health
- Build repeatable motion: turn customer lessons into sharper playbooks, templates, estimates, product feedback, and sales enablement
Location is Cambridge, MA (Harvard Square office), hybrid with 3 days per week in office. Occasional travel to customer sites, including distribution centers, is expected.
Requirements:
- 2+ years in implementation, technical project delivery, professional services, or comparable role, with demonstrated ownership of customer outcomes
- Technical fluency: can work productively with APIs, integrations, data models, source systems, and configuration; can identify risk and hold your own with customer technical teams and senior engineers
- Pre-sales judgment: can turn ambiguous customer needs into implementable plans, distinguish requirements from nice-to-haves, surface constraints without friction
- Excellent execution under real-world constraints: can build and run project plans, coordinate dependencies, make decisions visible, move multiple workstreams forward
- Customer-facing range: equally comfortable in a warehouse with operations teams and in meetings with senior stakeholders
- Clear communication and calm ownership: can explain technical tradeoffs in plain language, earn trust quickly, keep teams aligned when things are messy
- Practical use of AI in your own work: regularly use AI tools to accelerate planning, analysis, documentation, and coordination
- Data-driven and adaptive thinking: use project and customer data to decide what needs attention while staying flexible as details change
- High agency and continuous improvement mindset: look for root causes, close loops, improve systems
Plus factors: experience with complex B2B/enterprise/ERP-adjacent software; wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or logistics background; CRM, PIM, eCommerce, or order management integrations; experience delivering AI-enabled workflows in customer environments.
